Grapefruit In Brandy

Ingredients

  • 4 grapefruit (large)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water (cold)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Cut off all the peel and pith from grapefruit and carefully poke out the pithy core with the little finger.
  2. Slice the fruit into 1-inch rounds.
  3. Put the sugar in large saucepan with 1/2 cup cold water and cinnamon.
  4. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently until the sugar has dissolved, then boil for 2 minutes.
  5. Lower the heat.
  6. Add grapefruit slices.
  7. Poach for 6 minutes, turning once. Arrange slices on serving dish.
  8. Pour brandy over them and serve hot or chilled.
