- Combine all ingredients in a large pot, then cover with water. Boil, uncovered, for 1 1/2 hours.
- Add hot water as needed.
- Do not let them boil dry.
- When done, pour into jars.
- Water from pot should cover beans in jars.
- Seal with lid and let cool.
- When ready to eat, rinse beans well under cold tap water.
- Place in iron pot with seasoned meat and cover with water.
- Cook on low heat with lid until almost dry.
