Date Cream Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 c. sweet milk
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 yolks, beaten (save whites for top)
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 c. dates, sliced thin in small pieces

Instructions

  1. Mix first six ingredients and cook together.
  2. Add dates after filling is cooked.
  3. Put in a cooked pie shell.
  4. Make a meringue from the 2 whites and 3 tablespoons sugar.
  5. Place on top.
  6. Bake in 350° oven until lightly browned.
