Figs In Syrup

Ingredients

  • 4 7/16 cups figs small
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 7/8 cup water
  • 2 strips lemon peel

Instructions

  1. Rinse the figs.
  2. Bring a pot of water to boil, add the figs and soak for about 5 minutes.
  3. Drain well.
  4. Place 200 ml of water, sugar, lemon peel and cinnamon stick in a pot and bring to a boil.
  5. Boil until sugar dissolves and a light syrup forms.
  6. Add the whole figs to the syrup and boil 30 minutes over medium heat. Let cool, then remove the lemon peel and cinnamon stick. Pour syrup into sterilized jars.
  7. Store in refrigerator.
