- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups flour and yeast. In a saucepan, heat milk, sugar, shortening and salt until lukewarm and shortening almost melts.
- Add to flour mixture and beat at low speed until mixed.
- With a spoon, put in the rest of the flour, a little at a time, until you have used as much flour as possible.
