Ingredients

  • 5 3/4 to 6 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet yeast
  • 2 1/4 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups flour and yeast. In a saucepan, heat milk, sugar, shortening and salt until lukewarm and shortening almost melts.
  2. Add to flour mixture and beat at low speed until mixed.
  3. With a spoon, put in the rest of the flour, a little at a time, until you have used as much flour as possible.
