Ingredients

  • 2 tsp dried yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 4 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 cup 2% milk
  • 1/3 cup sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. In a bowl, mix together the yeast, sugar and flour. Heat the milk until lukewarm, then stir into the flour to form a dough. Knead until smooth. Cover and leave in a warm place for 1 hour.
  2. Pour the dough out onto a floured work surface and knead briefly. Divide into 15 pieces, about 3 oz each. Shape into oval rolls and place on 2 baking trays lined with parchment paper. Cut a slash along the length of each roll. Brush the surface with a little water and sprinkle over the sesame seeds. Leave to rise for 30-45 mins.
  3. Bake the rolls, one baking tray at a time, for 15 mins until golden. Leave to cool on a cooling rack.
