Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 2 1/2 inches stick cinnamon or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 large pears, peeled, cored, and halved

Instructions

  1. In a 3-quart saucepan, combine the white wine, orange juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  2. Cook and stir over medium-low heat until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add the peeled, cored, and halved pears to the saucepan.
  4. Cover and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until the pears are barely tender.
  5. Uncover and cook about 20 minutes more until the pears are translucent.
  6. Remove the cinnamon stick from the saucepan.
  7. Serve the pears warm with vanilla ice milk.
