18 Day Pickles

Instructions
- Add salt to cucumbers. Let stand 4 days.
- Wash pickles 3 times.
- Add
- alum
- and
- fill
- with water.
- Let stand 1 day. Rinse well.
- Pour
- vinegar
- over pickles.
- Let stand 10 days. Drain vinegar and rinse. Add 3 cups sugar.
- Repeat last step for
- 3 days.
- (Total
- 9 cups sugar.) Store in gallon jug. No seal necessary.
