Ingredients

  • 6 Italian hot sausages
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Prick the sausages and bring them to a boil in water to cover.
  2. Boil the sausages for 25 minutes.
  3. Remove the sausages and let them cool.
  4. Slice the cooled sausages into 1/2-inch thick pieces.
  5. In a large pot, add the sliced sausages.
  6. Cut the cabbage into 1/4-inch wide, 3-inch long strips, as if for coleslaw.
  7. Add the cabbage to the pot with the sausages.
  8. Add the chopped onion to the pot.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Simmer the soup until the cabbage strips are soft.
  11. Serve hot; the soup tastes even better the next day.
