Ingredients

  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk
  • 5 Tbsp. shortening

Instructions

  1. Cut flour, sugar and shortening until crumbly.
  2. Add yeast and milk; mix as for biscuits, using more flour if necessary.
  3. Roll out to 1-inch thickness and cut.
  4. Place on greased pan and let sit 30 to 60 minutes.
  5. Bake in 400° oven until browned.
