Boiled White Turnips

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. young turnips
  • water
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 to 4 Tbsp. pork fat or margarine

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel turnips.
  2. Slice in 1/4-inch slices.
  3. In kettle or pot, cover turnips with water, 1 teaspoon salt and salt pork. Boil 15 to 20 minutes or until tender.
  4. Drain; season with salt, pepper and sugar.
  5. Dress with plenty of margarine.
