Instructions
- Measure all ingredients.
- Follow each step carefully.
- Test lukewarm water.
- Dissolve sugar, salt and yeast in the quart of warm water.
- Pour liquid into the 12 cups flour.
- Stir until it is all mixed well.
- Add shortening; stir in the dough and then knead until it is smooth and elastic to the touch.
- Place dough in a bowl and let rise.
- Knead again and let rise again.
- Roll into four loaves.
- Bake at 425° for 45 minutes to an hour.
