Ingredients

  • 1 lb. natural whole wheat flour
  • 2 oz. shortening
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 level tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. bran
  • 2 tsp. yeast
  • 11 oz. warm water or milk

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and 1/2 of milk or water.
  2. Sprinkle yeast and let raise in warm place.
  3. Cut up shortening in small pieces; add remainder of milk and put aside in warm place to melt butter.
