Candied Violets Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. -Water
  • 1 c. Sugar, granulated Almond extract,or possibly rosewater Fresh violets or possibly Fresh rose petals

Instructions

  1. These are decorations for desserts.
  2. Don't use African violets!
  3. Make a syrup by stirring water into sugar in small saucepan.
  4. Boil until slightly thickened; stir in almond extract to taste.
  5. Let syrup cold a little.
  6. Place the violets, a few at a time into syrup.
  7. Make sure which they are completely covered.
  8. Remove from syrup and place on wax paper to dry.
  9. If syrup gets hard, reheat, adding a little more water.
  10. MAKES: 1 c. syrup Analternative method of making candied violets is to coat petals with lightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with fruit sugar.
