Ingredients

  • 1 small cashaw
  • 1/2 c. water
  • nutmeg
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 3/4 stick oleo, cut up

Instructions

  1. Peel cashaw and cut up in cube size pieces.
  2. Place in Corning Ware baking dish.
  3. Add sugar, water and oleo; sprinkle good with nutmeg.
  4. Cover and cook slowly until slightly tender.
  5. Test with fork.
  6. Remove lid; raise fire and cook until done and juice has thickened.
  7. May also be cooked in oven.
