- Combine water, sugar, cloves, allspice and cinnamon sticks in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the syrup is clear, about 3 minutes. Add the cranberries and cook for about 5 minutes or until the cranberries begin to pop.
