Tips & Substitutions

When making Crumbly Soap, ensure you use a plastic pail as metal can react with the ingredients. If you’re looking for a substitute for borax, consider using washing soda, but test a small batch first. For a more fragrant soap, you can add a few drops of essential oils after the mixture has set. Remember, safety is crucial, so wear gloves and work in a well-ventilated area.

Can I use different types of fat for this recipe?

Yes, you can use various types of fat like coconut oil, olive oil, or even animal fats. Each will impart different properties and scents to your soap. Experimenting with different fats can yield unique results, but keep in mind that the texture and lather may vary.

What should I do if my soap doesn't turn crumbly?

If your soap mixture remains liquid or doesn't turn crumbly, it may be due to insufficient stirring or the wrong proportions of ingredients. Ensure you follow the mixing order and stir thoroughly.
