Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 4 c. crushed zwieback crumbs
  • 1/4 c. or more sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 1/2 c. (2 lb.) applesauce

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in 10-inch frypan.
  2. Add crumbs and stir over medium heat until all crumbs are mixed well and browned lightly.
  3. Mix sugar and cinnamon into crumbs.
  4. Put 1/2 mixture into pan.
  5. Cover well with applesauce (1/2 of the applesauce).
  6. Then cover with the other half of crumbs, except save a few to sprinkle on top.
  7. Then add rest of applesauce.
  8. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
  9. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream.
