Ingredients

  • 2 c. self-rising flour, sifted
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening or oil
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. egg whites
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift flour and sugar; add shortening, milk, and egg whites and beat for 2 minutes. Add flavoring and mix; pour into two 8 inch cake pans that have been floured and greased. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. For filling, in between layers or on top, use pineapple, apple, or just about any fruit that you desire.
