Fried Parsnip

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. parsnips
  • sprinkle desired amount black pepper
  • small amount salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. water

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice long ways.
  2. Put butter or bacon grease in skillet.
  3. Sprinkle with black pepper, a little salt and 1/2 cup of sugar.
  4. Add just a little water (1/4 cup or less).
  5. Let cook until brown, turn over and cook until tender or done.
  6. They are candy when done.
