Fried Walnuts

Ingredients

  • 4 c. walnuts
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In large saucepan over high heat, bring 6 cups water to boil. Add walnuts; cook 1 minute.
  2. Rinse under running hot water (drain well).
  3. In large bowl, toss nuts in sugar.
  4. Use deep skillet. Heat 1-inch of oil to 350°.
  5. With slotted spoon, place nuts in coarse sieve to drain.
  6. Sprinkle with salt.
  7. Toss lightly to keep from sticking.
  8. Spread on waxed paper to cool.
  9. Store in airtight container to keep fresh.
