Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 tsp pressed hoarhound
  • 1 1/4 cups boiling water
  • 1/3 cup white corn syrup
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Pour boiling water over pressed hoarhound and allow to stand for 10 minutes, then strain.
  2. Combine sugar, salt, corn syrup, and the water from the hoarhound in a saucepan.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook to the soft crack stage.
  4. Pour the hot syrup into a well-buttered baking sheet in a thin sheet.
  5. Before the candy hardens, mark it into squares.
