  • 1 can orange juice
  • 1 container frozen lemon juice
  • 1 can unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 1 large bottle apple juice
  • 1/2 can apricot nectar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 6 cups water
  • 12 whole cloves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients in a large saucepan, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  2. Store in recycled apple juice bottles or similar containers.
  3. Heat the desired amount as needed.
  4. Pour the desired amount into the bottom of a coffeepot.
  5. Place cloves and cinnamon stick in a basket and perk the nectar.

Tips & Substitutions

For a sweeter nectar, consider using honey or agave syrup instead of sugar. You can also substitute the frozen lemon juice with fresh lemon juice for a brighter flavor. If you prefer a less citrusy drink, reduce the amount of orange juice or pineapple juice. Don't forget to adjust the amount of cloves based on your taste preference; they can add a lovely warmth to the drink.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Hot Nectar warm, garnished with a cinnamon stick or a few extra cloves for a festive touch. It pairs beautifully with Swedish Potato Salad or can be enjoyed alongside a slice of spiced cake. For a cozy gathering, consider serving it in a large pot so guests can help themselves, and offer some fresh fruit slices as a refreshing side.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover nectar in clean, recycled apple juice bottles or similar containers in the refrigerator. It should keep well for up to a week. When reheating, pour the desired amount into a saucepan and gently warm it over low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching. You can also heat it in the microwave in a microwave-safe container, but be sure to cover it.
