Iceberg Dill Pickles

Ingredients

  • 1 gal. whole dill pickles
  • 5 lb. sugar
  • 1 pt. white vinegar
  • 1 pkg. pickling spices
  • 4 cloves garlic, split

Instructions

  1. Drain pickles and soak in ice water for 2 hours.
  2. Drain on several
  3. layers
  4. paper.
  5. Slice pickles in half lengthwise, then slice
  6. into
  7. 3/4-inch pieces.
  8. While soaking, mix sugar, vinegar, spice and garlic.
  9. Pour over pickles and let stand 5 days. Stir each
  10. day. Put in jars and seal.
  11. Use plastic or enamel pans.
