Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • finely grated peel of 1 lemon
  • 1 1/2 cups lemon juice
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Measure sugar, water, and lemon peel into a large saucepan.
  2. While stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Boil for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
  4. Add lemon juice to the cooled sugar mixture.
  5. Pour this lemonade syrup into a quart jar and cover it tightly with a lid.
  6. Store in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 weeks.
