Mimaw'S Yeast Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 c. warm water
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 5 1/2 c. flour (plain)

Instructions

  1. Scald milk, add sugar, salt and butter.
  2. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in water.
  3. Combine yeast, milk and 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth.
  4. Add rest of flour and turn out on lightly floured table and knead until bubble gum stage.
  5. Place in greased bowls; cover and let rise 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
  6. Punch down and knead a few times.
  7. Separate and put in greased pans.
  8. Let rise until almost double in size.
  9. Bake in 450° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
