Nuked Basmati Rice

Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 3 34 cups water
  • snipped chives
  • fresh ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice in several changes of water.
  2. Drain.
  3. Place the rice in a 1-1/2 quart microwave safe dish; add the water.
  4. Microwave uncovered on high for 10 minutes.
  5. Add the cumin seeds, coriander, and salt.
  6. Stir well.
  7. Microwave uncovered on high for another 6-8 minutes, until the water has evaporated.
  8. Fluff with a fork.
  9. If desired sprinkle with chives and pepper.
