Poached Strawberries

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 None vanilla bean, split, scraped
  • 1 None cinnamon stick
  • 2 pints strawberries, washed, hulled
  • None None whipped cream, to serve

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine water, sugar, vanilla bean and cinnamon stick. Stir over a low heat, without boiling, until sugar dissolves.
  2. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, without stirring, for 2 mins. Remove from heat.
  3. Place strawberries in a bowl and pour over the hot syrup. Allow to cool. Serve with whipped cream if desired.
