Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 5 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Cut shortening into the self-rising flour until well combined.
  2. Add enough milk and buttermilk mixture to moisten the dough.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently.
  4. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  5. Cut with a biscuit cutter or shape with floured hands.
  6. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 450°F for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
