Ingredients

  • 4 cups brown or white beans
  • 1 smoked ham hock
  • water
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and drain the beans thoroughly.
  2. Place the beans in a crock-pot.
  3. Fill the crock-pot three-quarters full with water.
  4. Add the smoked ham hock to the beans in the crock-pot.
  5. Cook on low heat for 6 to 8 hours.
  6. When the beans are almost done, season with salt and pepper.
  7. Stir occasionally while cooking to distribute flavors.
