- This is basic, and easy and should be appreciated for it's simplicity. Start with cubed onion, minced garlic sauted in a small a pan coated with oil and 2 tbs butter. Do not brown onions and garlic. Add cubed tomatoes saute for about 8-10 minutes until half of the water cooks out. Add Squid and cook for about 2 minutes no more. Add capers THEN season with salt and pepper and squeeze fresh lemon juice over. Add Parsley, remove from heat. Add to a dish with a lid and store in a warm area (not hot- turned off microwave works well) for at least 20 minutes. Serve over pasta.
