Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Warm milk, 1 cup water and butter together.
- Pour into large mixing bowl.
- Add sugar and salt; mix well.
- Add yeast to cooled milk mixture.
- Add flour slowly, stirring constantly.
- Knead dough for 10 minutes; set aside in a greased bowl in warm place, turning dough once so that all sides are greased.
- Cover with damp cloth.
- Let rise 1 1/2 hours or until double.
- Punch down, knead several minutes.
- Shape into 3 loaves and place in greased pans.
- Allow to rise until double. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes.
- Reduce heat to 350° and bake 35 to 45 minutes.
