Instructions
- Dissolve water and yeast.
- Mix flour, sugar and salt.
- Beat egg lightly with 1 tablespoon water.
- With a large spoon, work flour mixture into yeast mixture in a large bowl.
- When about 3 cups of flour have been worked in, begin to knead the mixture on a countertop, while working in the remaining mix.
- Divide the dough into 18 to 24 parts.
- Shape the dough into letters and place on greased pans.
- "Paint" with egg-water mixture and sprinkle with salt.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown at 425°.
