Apple Roll Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • sufficient flour to make dough stiff
  • 3 c. apples, chopped
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. water
  • cinnamon or nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cook water and sugar to thin syrup.
  2. Roll dough about 1/8-inch thick.
  3. Spread on this chopped apples. Sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg and roll as for jelly roll.
  4. Slice about 2 inches thick and place in pan, flat side down.
  5. Put lump of butter on each.
  6. Pour over all thin syrup and bake in a moderate oven.
  7. Serve with cream.
