Bakewell Cream Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 4 tsp. Bakewell cream
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. cold milk

Instructions

  1. Mix and sift dry ingredients.
  2. Add shortening and mix with pastry blender or fork.
  3. Add milk all at once and stir quickly. Some flour may need a bit more milk to make soft dough.
  4. Turn onto floured board and knead 5 to 6 times.
  5. Roll to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with biscuit cutter.
  6. Bake at 475° for 5 minutes.
