Ingredients

  • 1/2 loaf French or Italian bread (about 10 x 4-inch)
  • 1/2 cup oleo or butter (soft)
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Cut the loaf in half (5 x 4-inch).
  2. Then cut each half in half (sandwich style).
  3. Cut each sandwich-style half into 3 (1-inch) wedges that are 5 inches long, resulting in 12 wedges in total.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the softened oleo or butter with basil leaves, garlic powder, and onion powder; mix well.
  5. Spread the herb-butter mixture on all cut sides of the bread wedges.
  6. Arrange the wedges on ungreased cookie sheets, spaced apart.
  7. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 7 to 9 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm.
