Beggar'S Apple Pudding

Ingredients

  • 10 slices day-old cubed rye or pumpernickel
  • 1 1/2 c. apple cider
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2 lb. peeled, sliced apples
  • 1/4 c. raisins
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine

Instructions

  1. Mix bread with enough cider to moisten and soften.
  2. Combine cinnamon, sugar and raisins in buttered 2-quart casserole.
  3. Cover with layer of bread cubes.
  4. Dot top with margarine.
  5. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
