Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 md. onion, finely chopped
  • 2 lg. garlic cloves, minced
  • 12 oz. chile sauce
  • 3/4 cup beer
  • 1/4 cup unsulfured (light) molasses
  • 3 tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp. bourbon whiskey
  • 1-1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a heavy medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and the garlic saute until tender, around 8 minutes, then reduce the heat.
  3. Add the chili sauce, molasses, beer, vinegar, whiskey and the Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Simmer until it has reduced to 2 cups, stirring occasionally, for about 25 minutes.
  5. Stir in the hot pepper sauce.
