Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. flour (after sifting)
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. ice cold water

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and salt well, then cut in Crisco until real crumbly.
  2. Add water, all at once.
  3. Stir with a fork until just mixed (not as much as biscuit dough).
  4. Divide in half for a two crust pie.
  5. Will roll out easier if you chill the two rolls (wrapped in wax paper).
  6. Take out 1 roll at a time.
  7. Use little flour on board.
  8. Flour one side, then turn over before rolling. Lift rolling pin (don't roll back and forth).
  9. Turn crust around so you roll all edges.
  10. Some flours have to have more water, almost a drop at a time.
