Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 2 1/2 c. warm water
  • 3/4 c. soft shortening
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 8 to 8 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Soften yeast in warm water.
  2. Add shortening, sugar, eggs and salt.
  3. Add 4 cups of flour.
  4. Stir and then beat until smooth. Stir in 2 cups flour and beat again.
  5. Add remaining 2 to 2 1/2 cups flour and stir.
  6. This will be a soft dough.
  7. Cover tightly and let rise until double in bulk.
  8. Punch down and shape into rolls or loaves of bread.
  9. Bake at 425° for rolls or at 400° for loaves.
