Ingredients

  • 1 pkg raisins
  • 2 c water
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c cold water
  • 1 Tbsp soda
  • 1 c melted shortening
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Cook raisins in 2 cups water for 15 minutes.
  2. Cool the raisin mixture.
  3. Dissolve 1 tablespoon of soda in 1/2 cup cold water.
  4. Add the cooled raisin mixture, sugar, melted shortening, salt, and spices to the soda solution.
  5. Mix well and pour into a greased baking pan.
  6. Bake in a 350°F oven for about 1 hour.
