Ingredients

  • 1 -1 12 lb stir fry style chicken (beef can be used)
  • 34 cup light soy sauce (lite only)
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil (canola works too)
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 12 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 -5 medium green onions, bulbs finely chopped
  • 2 12 cups uncooked rice

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken (or beef) into bite sized pieces and set aside.
  2. In container or bowl w/ tight fitting lid, mix together soy sauce, sugar, oil, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Stir till sugar is mostly disolved.
  4. add chicken and onion.
  5. stir till coated.
  6. cover and refrigerate for 30min to overnight.
  7. (30 min is plenty for chicken, for beef 2-3 hours is fine.)
  8. cook rice according to package directions.
  9. set aside.
  10. Heat wok or deep fry pan with cooking spray over med heat.
  11. Remove chicken from mixture with slotted spoon.
  12. Cook chicken till done.
  13. Add to wok/pan the marinade.
  14. Heat through.
  15. serve over rice, spooning sauce over in desired amount.
  16. Green beans make a wonderful side dish for this, and round it out nicely.
