Ingredients

  • 2 c. water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • juice of 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Combine water, sugar, lemon slices, and lemon juice in a Dutch oven and bring to a boil.
  2. Add apples and return to a boil.
  3. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 12 minutes or until apples are tender.
  4. Remove apples to a 2-quart casserole dish.
  5. Bring the syrup to a boil and cook for 10 minutes or until reduced to about 1 cup.
  6. Pour the syrup over the apples, cool, then cover and refrigerate.
  7. Serve cold.
