Clothespin Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Crisco
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten with 1 1/4 c. water
  • 3 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Add sugar to flour.
  2. Cut in 1/4 of Crisco.
  3. Add egg mixture. Beat until smooth.
  4. Refrigerate in bowl for 1 hour.
  5. Every hour roll out dough and spread with 1/4 of the remaining Crisco until gone.
  6. Refrigerate overnight.
  7. Take a small amount to work with and keep the rest in the refrigerator.
  8. Roll about 1/4-inch thick. Cut into 6-inch strips 1-inch wide.
  9. Wind loosely on clothespin overlapping dough.
  10. Bake at 375° for 10 to 15 minutes until slightly browned.
  11. Cool 2 minutes, then remove from pin.
  12. Be sure to grease clothespins.
