Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. butter or margarine (1 1/2 sticks)
  • 2 c. flour (unsifted)
  • 6 to 7 Tbsp. cold water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, with pastry blender or two knives used in a scissor-like fashion, cut butter into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Sprinkle on cold water, a tablespoon at a time, mixing lightly with a fork after each addition, until pastry holds together.
  3. Divide dough in half, shape each into a flat ball.
  4. Wrap each in plastic wrap and refrigerate 1 hour or longer.
