Ingredients

  • 1 cup burgundy wine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 box cake mix
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup sweet cherries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cake mix and bake it in a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  2. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  3. Drain the cherries, reserving the syrup.
  4. In a saucepan, blend 1/4 cup sugar and cornstarch; gradually add cherry syrup, mixing well.
  5. Cook and stir over medium heat until the mixture thickens and boils.
  6. Remove from heat; stir in wine and cherries.
  7. Beat the cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, milk, and vanilla until fluffy.
  8. Cut the cooled cake into squares.
  9. Top each square with a mound of the cream cheese mixture.
  10. Serve warm cherry sauce over the cake squares.
