Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • pinch of salt
  • 6 Tbsp sugar
  • 3 egg whites

Instructions

  1. Add a little cold water to cornstarch to make a paste.
  2. Stir the cornstarch paste into boiling water.
  3. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool.
  5. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  6. Add a pinch of salt to the egg whites, then gradually add sugar while beating.
  7. Beat in the cooled cornstarch mixture into the egg whites.
  8. Spoon or pipe the meringue onto a pie or baking sheet.
  9. Bake in the oven until golden brown.
