Ingredients

  • 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup liquid laundry starch
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1/2 cup mild soap flakes
  • food coloring or tempera paints

Instructions

  1. Soften the unflavored gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water and set aside.
  2. Combine laundry starch with 3/4 cup cold water in a medium saucepan.
  3. Add hot water and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a full boil and thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the softened gelatin until fully dissolved.
  5. Add soap flakes and stir until completely dissolved.
  6. Add food coloring or tempera paints to the mixture as desired.
  7. Store the finger paints in covered containers.
