Ingredients

  • 3 to 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons yeast

Instructions

  1. Mix 1 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon sugar, and yeast dissolved in 2 1/2 cups warm water; gradually add 3 to 3 1/2 cups flour and mix well with a mixer.
  2. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead well.
  3. Let the dough rise until it doubles in size.
  4. Divide the dough into two equal portions.
  5. Spread melted butter on a baking sheet and sprinkle with cornmeal.
  6. Place shaped loaves or rolls on the prepared sheet and allow to rise again.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  8. Optional: brush with butter or sprinkle with sesame seeds before baking.
