Four-Minute Basic Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp. white flour
  • 1 c. nonfat milk
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder

Instructions

  1. Blend oil and flour in a nonstick pan.
  2. Using a rubber spatula, slowly stir in cold milk.
  3. Mix until smooth.
  4. Add onion powder.
  5. Cook over medium heat, stirring until it thickens. Cooking time is about 3 minutes.
  6. Add ready-made brown gravy concentrate and pepper for meat sauce.
  7. Add capers, dill, pepper and a dash of lemon for fish.
  8. Add sliced canned mushrooms and garlic powder for mushroom sauce.
